7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th Grade Boys Basketball team suffered a loss at the hands of conference and county foe Randolph Southern by a score of 28-24. Despite the loss, great effort was made as well as learning and teaching lessons. Great defensive stretches were made in both halves to keep the Bears in the game, despite some offensive struggles, especially in the second half. The Bears were led in scoring by Peyton Chamness with 10 and Myles Oliphant with 6. The Bears return the action on Saturday for the Randolph County Tournament at Union. The Bears will face Union City in the opening round at 11:20 AM. 8th Grade: The 8th grade boys defeated Randolph Southern 52 to 21 last night. This was a great team effort as the defense held the Rebels to 12 first half and 9 second half points. Pierceton Erwin led 7 players in scoring with 15 points. He was followed by Conner Baker with 12. The Bears play Union City in the first game of the County Tourney at 10 am Saturday morning at Union.
