Game 1 GameChanger Recap: Late Score Costs Monroe Central Varsity Bears Against Alexandria-Monroe By GameChanger Media Saturday's game against Alexandria-Monroe was a heartbreaker for Monroe Central Varsity Bears, as they lost the lead late in a 9-8 defeat. Alexandria-Monroe were down 8-7 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jon Aiman singled, scoring two runs. Monroe Central Varsity Bears fought back after falling down by six runs in the second inning. The comeback fell just short though. Monroe Central Varsity Bears closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, a single, a sacrifice fly, a sacrifice bunt, a single, and a walk. Alexandria-Monroe got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Adrian Smith walked, and Alexandria-Monroe scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Alexandria-Monroe added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Blake Jones singled, scoring one run, Mason Fuller doubled, scoring one run, and Trevor Martin singled, scoring two runs. Monroe Central Varsity Bears made the score 8-6 in the top of the fourth after Lane Wilson laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs, Levi Pence singled, scoring one run, and Conner Baker drew a walk, scoring one run. Alexandria-Monroe made the score 9-8 in the bottom of the fourth after Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, and Aiman singled, scoring two runs. Griffin Cox earned the win for Alexandria-Monroe. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking three. Myles Oliphant took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler went three innings, allowing six runs on five hits, striking out three and walking six. Isaac Middleton stepped on the hill first for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher gave up one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out none and walking five. Smith led things off on the bump for Alexandria-Monroe. The pitcher surrendered six hits and eight runs (six earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking six. Pence provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Game 2 GameChanger Recap: Carter Duncan Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Monroe Central Varsity Bears Take The Win Over Alexandria-Monroe By GameChanger Media Carter Duncan collected four hits in five at bats, as Monroe Central Varsity Bears defeated Alexandria-Monroe 11-1 on Saturday. Duncan doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. Monroe Central Varsity Bears got on the board in the top of the first inning after Caleb Luedike doubled down the right field line, and Alexandria-Monroe dropped a third strike, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Duncan and Luedike. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Levi Pence laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Carter Morris walked, each scoring one run. Lane Wilson earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. Brady Gast took the loss for Alexandria-Monroe. The starter went three innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking four.
