Varsity Softball falls to Daleville

GameChanger Recap: Monroe Central Varsity Bears Bats On Fire In Loss To Daleville Varsity Bronco By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears's bats were strong against Daleville Varsity Bronco on Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Monroe Central Varsity Bears fell 19-9. Daleville Varsity Bronco collected 12 hits, while Monroe Central Varsity Bears had eight. Daleville Varsity Bronco rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the second. Monroe Central Varsity Bears got on the board in the top of the first inning after Daleville Varsity Bronco committed an error, and Haidyn Dumpert doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added two runs in the second after Laura Walker tripled down the right field line on an 0-2 count. Daleville Varsity Bronco flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 10 runs on three hits to take the lead, 13-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Emily Simmons that drove in two. Simmons earned the win for Daleville Varsity Bronco. The reliever allowed two hits and three runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Kloee Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The reliever went two innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking one. Kyra Brockman began the game for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler gave up seven hits and 13 runs (four earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking five. Rylan Leonard started the game for Daleville Varsity Bronco. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Dumpert and Walker each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Dumpert led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. Daleville Varsity Bronco piled up 12 hits in the game. Simmons led Daleville Varsity Bronco with three hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Valyn Pattengale, Zoe Shihemi, Raegan Jackson, and Miley Womack each collected multiple hits for Daleville Varsity Bronco. Bella Murphy led Daleville Varsity Bronco with two walks.
