GameChanger Recap: Monroe Central Varsity Bears Stymied By Yorktown Varsity Tigers By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears had trouble keeping up with Yorktown Varsity Tigers in a 15-5 loss on Friday. A solo home run to center field by Danae Caldwell put Yorktown Varsity Tigers on the board in the bottom of the first. Monroe Central Varsity Bears captured the lead, 4-1, in the top of the second after Raegan Quattlebaum stole home, Yorktown Varsity Tigers committed an error, Laura Walker grounded out, and Aleiyah Davis singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added one run in the third. Darian Duncan walked, making the score 5-2. Rylie Perkins doubled down the right field line, which helped Yorktown Varsity Tigers tie the game at five in the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Yorktown Varsity Tigers went back into the lead after Caldwell homered to center field, Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, and Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, each scoring one run. Yorktown Varsity Tigers scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Emma Reynolds doubled, scoring two runs, Alexis Fields doubled, scoring two runs, Ava Aul drew a walk, scoring one run, and Olivia Jaromin doubled, scoring two runs. Olivia Jones earned the win for Yorktown Varsity Tigers. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none. Kloee Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty went one inning, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out none and walking one. Kyra Brockman stepped in the circle first for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. Hadlee Barnard started the game for Yorktown Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (zero earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out six and walking three. Davis and Walker were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Zoie Hood, Davis, Brannan, and Brockman each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Quattlebaum stole three bases. Monroe Central Varsity Bears ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Caldwell went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Jones paced Yorktown Varsity Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Jaromin stole two bases.
