Varsity Baseball falls to Lapel

GameChanger Recap: Monroe Central Varsity Bears Stymied By Lapel By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears had trouble keeping up with Lapel in a 9-0 loss on Monday. Lapel got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jaxson Cripe was struck by a pitch, Kai Newman walked, Darl Gustin was struck by a pitch, and Cripe scored after tagging up, each scoring one run. Lapel added one run in the third after Ray Smith doubled down the right field line. Newman earned the win for Lapel. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out 15 and walking none. Myles Oliphant took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out two and walking two. Isaac Middleton and Logan Walker each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. Lapel collected nine hits in the game. Smith led Lapel with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. AJ Nunley, Rylie Hudson, and Smith each collected two hits for Lapel. Nunley and Camden Novak each stole multiple bases for Lapel. Lapel ran wild on the base paths, amassing seven stolen bases for the game. Lapel were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Smith had the most chances in the field with 15.
