Varsity Baseball falls to Jay County

Monroe Central Varsity Bears Fall After Strong Showing By Jay County By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears couldn't keep up with Jay County and fell 14-3 on Monday. Monroe Central Varsity Bears got on the board in the top of the first inning after Monroe Central Varsity Bears scored on a passed ball, and Levi Pence laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Jay County flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Carter Fugiett that drove in three. Jay County added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Brady Tetmore walked, Wyatt Foster was struck by a pitch, and Fugiett was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. Jay County scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tetmore singled, scoring two runs, Grant Wendel doubled, scoring one run, and Leighton Brown grounded out, scoring two runs. Aj Myers earned the win for Jay County. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking four. Carter Duncan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on four hits, striking out six and walking four. Myles Oliphant, Kyler Bogue, Duncan, and Lane Wilson each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Oliphant and Pence each drove in one run for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Fugiett provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County with five runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Tetmore collected two hits for Jay County in two at bats. Joe Geesman led Jay County with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Jay County didn't commit a single error in the field. Drew Schewehaur had the most chances in the field with five. Monroe Central Varsity Bears welcome Wapahani on Tuesday for their next game.
