Alex Middleton’s Clutch Hitting Propels Monroe Central Junior High To Victory Over Tri By GameChanger Media Alex Middleton drove in four runs on four hits to lead Monroe Central Junior High past Tri 24-7 on Tuesday at Tri Junior-Senior High School. Middleton singled in the second scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and walked in the fifth scoring one. Monroe Central Junior High opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three singles. Monroe Central Junior High first got on the board when Middleton singled, scoring one run. Monroe Central Junior High scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the second inning. Abe Cunningham singled, scoring two runs, Logan Keith drew a walk, scoring one run, Parker Morris singled, scoring two runs, Middleton singled, scoring two runs, and Cunningham singled, scoring one run. Monroe Central Junior High extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI walks by Abe Chamberlain and Collin Baker. Monroe Central Junior High scored 10 runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Baker singled, scoring one run, Nic Cope drew a walk, scoring one run, Griffin Maxwell drew a walk, scoring one run, Caiden Walker singled, scoring one run, Thatcher drew a walk, scoring one run, Morris grounded out, scoring one run, Middleton drew a walk, scoring one run, Baker drew a walk, scoring one run, Greyson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Cope grounded out, scoring one run. Keith began the game for Monroe Central Junior High. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and seven runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking five. Kinder stepped on the hill first for Tri. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and 12 runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking six. Middleton tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Monroe Central Junior High in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking two. Monroe Central Junior High piled up 16 hits in the game. Chamberlain, Mason Gilliam, and Cunningham each collected multiple hits for Monroe Central Junior High. Monroe Central Junior High had patience at the plate, piling up 21 walks for the game. Chamberlain and Baker led the team with four free passes each. Middleton and Baker each stole multiple bases for Monroe Central Junior High. Monroe Central Junior High stole eight bases in the game. Clements drove the middle of the lineup, leading Tri with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Vanosdol went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Tri in hits. Vanosdol and O. Wright each stole multiple bases for Tri. Tri had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Tri were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Melton made the most plays with five. Monroe Central Junior High will travel to Union City for their next game on Friday.
