Monroe Central Varsity Bears Bats On Fire In Loss To Union City HS Indians 2025 By GameChanger Media Bats were blistered on Saturday, but Monroe Central Varsity Bears couldn't quite get the job done against Union City HS Indians 2025 and lost 14-13. Union City HS Indians 2025 collected nine hits, while Monroe Central Varsity Bears had 11. Monroe Central Varsity Bears lost despite out-hitting Union City HS Indians 2025 11 to nine. Zoie Hood and Laura Walker each collected three hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. A single by Hood put Monroe Central Varsity Bears on the board in the top of the first. Union City HS Indians 2025 captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, and Scarlett VanMeter singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the top of the second inning after Walker grounded out, and Union City HS Indians 2025 committed an error, each scoring one run. A single by Oaklee Reichard gave Union City HS Indians 2025 the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second. Aleiyah Davis scored after tagging up, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at four in the top of the third. Union City HS Indians 2025 took the lead in the bottom of the third. Monroe Central Varsity Bears jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Walker doubled to center field, and Hood singled to center field, each scoring one run. Walker singled to center field, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at seven in the top of the fifth. A home run to left field by Blankley gave Union City HS Indians 2025 the lead, 10-7, in the bottom of the fifth. Monroe Central Varsity Bears jumped into the lead in the top of the sixth when Haidyn Dumpert singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and an error scored one run. Union City HS Indians 2025 captured the lead, 14-11, in the bottom of the sixth after Reichard doubled down the left field line, Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, Lindsey Evans singled to center field, and Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by Davis. Kierra Thacker earned the win for Union City HS Indians 2025. The hurler surrendered two hits and two runs over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. Kloee Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The reliever went two and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking two. Kyra Brockman opened the game for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty allowed four hits and seven runs (two earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Evans started the game for Union City HS Indians 2025. The righty allowed seven hits and six runs (four earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tallied 11 hits in the game. Walker went 3-for-5 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Monroe Central Varsity Bears ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Reichard and Blankley were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Union City HS Indians 2025 while hitting back-to-back. Blankley went 3-for-5 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Union City HS Indians 2025 had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
