Varsity Softball falls to Northeastern

Monroe Central Varsity Bears Stymied By Northeastern Varsity Knights By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears couldn't keep up with Northeastern Varsity Knights and fell 12-1 on Monday. Northeastern Varsity Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mackenzie Johnson doubled to center field, Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, and Isabella Peed singled to center field, each scoring one run. Northeastern Varsity Knights added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Jocelyn Allen doubled to center field, and Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, each scoring one run. Makayla Hopkins earned the win for Northeastern Varsity Knights. The starter allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Kloee Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking none. Kyra Brockman started in the circle for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starter allowed nine hits and 12 runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Haidyn Dumpert led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with one run batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Raegan Quattlebaum, Dumpert, and Darian Duncan each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Johnson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Northeastern Varsity Knights with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Allen and Peed each collected multiple hits for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Addisyn Wright and Alexis Russell each stole multiple bases for Northeastern Varsity Knights. Northeastern Varsity Knights ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Northeastern Varsity Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
