Varsity Baseball defeats Randolph Southern

Monroe Central Varsity Bears Roll Past Randolph Southern By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears won big over Randolph Southern 11-1 on Thursday. Randolph Southern got on the board in the first inning after Bryson Grimes singled, scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lane Wilson singled to center field, and Isaac Middleton lined out, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added two runs in the third after Logan Walker hit a sacrifice fly. Three more Monroe Central Varsity Bears runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 11-1. Middleton homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Mason McCreery was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Middleton earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starter allowed two hits and one run over four and one-third innings, striking out six and walking six. Grimes took the loss for Randolph Southern. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking four. Caleb Luedike tossed one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Monroe Central Varsity Bears in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking two. Monroe Central Varsity Bears collected 11 hits in the game. Carter Duncan set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two hits in four at bats. Middleton, McCreery, and Walker each drove in three runs for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Duncan stole two bases. Monroe Central Varsity Bears stole five bases in the game. Monroe Central Varsity Bears didn't commit a single error in the field. Duncan had the most chances in the field with eight. Grimes led Randolph Southern with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Grimes and Trenton Jeffries each collected one hit for Randolph Southern. Braden Austin led Randolph Southern with two walks.
