Varsity Softball falls to Union City in IHSAA Sectional 56 Semi-Final

Fifth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Union City HS Indians 2025 Past Monroe Central Varsity Bears By GameChanger Media Union City HS Indians 2025 defeated Monroe Central Varsity Bears 15-1 on Monday at Current Location thanks in part to eight runs in the fifth inning. Union City HS Indians 2025 opened the scoring in the first after Brianna Williams singled, scoring one run. Aleiyah Davis singled down the right field line, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Union City HS Indians 2025 took the lead in the top of the third. An error scored one run, to give Union City HS Indians 2025 the advantage, 2-1. Union City HS Indians 2025 scored eight runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Williams doubled, scoring three runs, Lindsey Evans singled, scoring one run, Lilly Zigler was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored one run, Emma Blankley drew a walk, scoring one run, and Williams was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Union City HS Indians 2025 scored five runs on two hits in the top of the sixth inning. Ava Reichard singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Kloee Brannan induced Oaklee Reichard to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Williams drew a walk, scoring one run, and Reichard scored after tagging up. Kierra Thacker earned the win for Union City HS Indians 2025. The starter surrendered four hits and one run over six innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Brannan took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The right-handed pitcher went five and one-third innings, giving up 13 runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking four. Davis led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with one run batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Williams provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Union City HS Indians 2025 with six runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Williams and Evans each collected two hits for Union City HS Indians 2025. Blankley led Union City HS Indians 2025 with two walks.
