Varsity Baseball defeats Cambridge City Lincoln in the IHSAA Sectional 56 Quarter-Final

Monroe Central Varsity Bears Secure Win Against Cambridge City Lincoln By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears were triumphant over Cambridge City Lincoln 9-6 on Wednesday. Monroe Central Varsity Bears got on the board in the first inning after Logan Walker drew a walk, scoring one run. Cambridge City Lincoln took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Webb singled down the left field line, and Patton walked, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Lane Wilson that drove in two. Isaac Middleton earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking five. Bates took the loss for Cambridge City Lincoln. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking nine. Myles Oliphant and Caleb Luedike each appeared in relief for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Middleton and Wilson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Wilson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Monroe Central Varsity Bears had patience at the plate, amassing 14 walks for the game. Levi Pence and Luedike led the team with three free passes each. Webb, Patton, Dick, Stucky, and Patterson each drove in one run for Cambridge City Lincoln. Stucky led Cambridge City Lincoln with two hits in three at bats.
