Varsity Baseball falls to Union City in the IHSAA Sectional 56 Semi-Final

Big Fourth Inning Leads Union City Varsity Indians Past Monroe Central Varsity Bears By GameChanger Media Union City Varsity Indians scored seven runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat Monroe Central Varsity Bears 9-1 on Saturday at Earlham College. Union City Varsity Indians got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after an error scored one run, an error scored one run, Joseangel Perez-contreras singled, scoring one run, Jayson Connor singled, scoring one run, Luke Collins singled, scoring one run, and Brayden Huggins doubled, scoring two runs. Caleb Lutz earned the win for Union City Varsity Indians. The hurler allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. Caleb Luedike pitched four innings in relief for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) while, striking out four and walking one. Lane Wilson took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Isaac Middleton, Wilson, and Luedike each collected one hit for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Middleton went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Union City Varsity Indians tallied 10 hits in the game. Connor and Huggins each collected three hits for Union City Varsity Indians. Connor and Huggins each drove in two runs for Union City Varsity Indians. Union City Varsity Indians didn't commit a single error in the field.
