7th Grade: Lady Bears Battle Hard Against Richmond The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears put up a strong fight against Richmond but fell in two sets (24-26, 17-25). The team showed grit in a nail-biting first set and continued to battle through the second. Delainee Whitehead was outstanding at the service line, firing 6 aces while also adding 1 assist and 1 dig. Ellie Lanter powered through at the net with 4 kills and an ace, while Alexa Tinsman added both offense and defense with 2 kills and 2 digs. Blakely Burge kept the offense moving with 3 assists and 2 aces, Mabrey Cheesman chipped in with 1 ace and 1 assist, and Addi Holt served up an ace to help the Lady Bears’ effort. Although the Lady Bears came up short, their determination and teamwork continue to shine as they prepare for their next matchup Tuesday at Shenandoah. 8th Grade: The 8th grade Lady Bears snagged a win for their volleyball season opener against Richmond. Final scores were 25-20, 20-25, 15-12. Individual highlights include Izzy McGrath’s 6 kills / 1 dig, Haidyn Knott’s 4 aces / 3 digs, Gracie McCreery’s 3 digs / 2 aces / 1 kill, Landry Taylor’s 3 assists / 2 digs, Bristol Goad’s 2 aces / 2 digs / 1 kill, Claire Cheesman’s 2 kills / 1 dig, Alyssa Chalfant’s 2 digs, and Ashtyn Baldwin’s 1 dig. Junior High volleyball ships off to Shenandoah tomorrow night for what’s sure to be another intense match-up. 6th Grade starts at 5:00PM. They will be rolling from one game to the next while the teams warm up in the HS gym.
