Monroe Central

The Panthers of Elwood traveled to Monroe Central on 8/25/25 for a JV/Varsity matchup. The Varsity match truly showed to be an intense battle of ups and downs for both teams. Elwood started out taking set number one with a score of 14-25. The Golden Bears weren't satisfied with that performance and bounced right back taking set two 25-18. The Panthers fought back in set three to take that one 15-25. However, the Golden Bears weren't ready to give up and battled hard to take set four 25-23. At that point, the Golden Bears determined they weren't looking back and went strong in set five to win the match 3-2 with a score of 15-11. All players contributed a great deal to this hard fought win. Senior Shyan Bennett had 4 aces, 12 kills, 30 receptions and 10 digs. Senior Hadley Henderickson had 7 aces, 8 kills, 30 receptions and 5 digs. Sophomore Bentley Pegg had 1 ace, 1 kill and 25 assists. Senior Sophia Bolton had 1 ace, 9 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Maylynn Morrison made her return to the court tonight and had 1 ace, 7 kills and 5 digs. The Golden Bears are back in action tomorrow (8/26/25) as they hit the road to take on the Raiders of Southern Wells. JV start time is 6pm.
