7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears defended their home court with a sweep over Northeastern, winning in two sets (25-21, 25-6). All 14 players of the Lady Bear team saw action and contributed to the victory. Blakely Burge had an outstanding performance, leading the team with 13 aces and serving for over 24 total points for the night. She also added 3 assists and 2 digs. Alexa Tinsman chipped in 3 aces, 2 kills, and 1 dig, while Delainee Whitehead recorded 2 aces, 1 kill, and 1 dig. Ellie Lanter contributed 2 aces and 1 kill, and Lainey Huddleston added an assist to round out the balanced team effort. With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 2-1 on the season. They return to action next Tuesday at home against Blue River Valley. 8th Grade: The 8th Grade Lady Bears are back on top, defeating Northeastern Thursday night 25-18, 25-9. Performance highlights include Izzy McGrath's 7 kills / Landry Taylor's 4 assists, 2 aces, and 1 / Gracie McCreery's 5 aces and 1 kill / Haidyn Knott's 2 aces, 2 assists, and 1 kill / Bristol Goad's 4 aces and 1 dig / Alyssa Chalfant's 1 ace and 1 dig / Ashtyn Baldwin and Anna Wines with 1 dig each. The team's cooperation and positive attitude could be felt throughout the gymnasium. They'll be back in action on Tuesday @ home against Blue River Valley - come watch.
