Monroe Central 46, Union City 0 The Monroe Central football team had one of its more dominant defensive performances in program history Friday night, intercepting four passes — returning one for a touchdown — and allowing just one first down in its 46-0 shutout home victory Friday night in Parker City. Caden Dance led the way with two picks for the Golden Bears (1-1), while Griffin Gannom — who was an all-around standout on Friday night — also added an interception and two passes defensed, and Caleb Luedike put the cherry on top of Friday night’s game with an interception he returned nine yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Travis Reed led the way with seven tackles (four solo) against the Indians (0-2); Luke Anderson added four tackles (three solo), including a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Monroe Central’s offense was also humming in its 2025 home opener. The Golden Bears had 21 first downs and a balanced attack with 185 rushing yards and 158 passing yards from quarterback Carson Siekmann, who completed 11-of-19 passes with two touchdowns — both caught by Gannom, including a 57-yard catch and midway through the third quarter to give Monroe Central a 26-0 lead. Gannom, in all, had three catches for 93 yards and the aforementioned two receiving touchdowns. Kyler Bogue also added four receptions for 47 yards. On the ground, Ethan Hunt led the way with 19 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Luedike (10 rushes for 47 yards) also had two rushing scores on the night. Monroe Central next Friday hits the road for a 7 p.m. contest at 4A foe Richmond (0-2), which lost to Eaton (Ohio), 31-7, on Friday night.
