7th Grade: Bears Over Blue River Valley The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears defended their home court with a victory over Blue River Valley, winning in three sets (25-7, 21-25, 15-9). The Lady Bears came out strong in the opening set, taking control early and cruising to a 25-7 win. In the second set, adjustments were made to the lineup to give everyone playing time. After falling behind 13-0, the Bears showed resilience, battling back and nearly completing the comeback before dropping the set 21-25. The Lady Bears confidently closed things out in the third set, 15-9. Alexa Tinsman led the offense with 4 kills, 1 block, 1 ace, and 1 dig. Blakely Burge contributed 4 aces and 1 assist, while Delainee Whitehead added 2 aces, 2 kills, and 2 digs. Ellie Lanter chipped in 2 aces and 1 kill. Addi Holt did a great job, providing 1 ace, 1 kill, and 1 dig, and Kendall Johnson provided the final spark, and delivered the match-winning ace to seal the victory. With the win, the Lady Bears improve their season record to 3-1. 8th Grade: The 8th Grade Lady Bears have done it again, picking up a victory against Blue River Valley in last night's game, 25-17, 25-21. Highlights for the night included Haidyn Knott's 9 assists at setter / Izzy McGrath's 8 kills and 1 block / Bristol Goad's 3 aces, 2 kills, and 2 digs / Gracie McCreery's 5 kills and 1 ace / Alyssa Chalfant's 5 digs / Landry Taylor's ace, assist, and dig / Claire Cheesman's kill and dig and / Mati McConnell's dig. The team will take a deserved break, returning to action against Union City on September 11th.
