6th Grade: Girls traveled to Selma winning in two sets (25-16, 25-21) This was a GREAT team effort from everyone, they all came in when needed and got the job done! Team was led in Ace with a total of 7 by Berkeley Taylor, 6 aces by Hailey Grove, 2 aces by Jillian Goad, and 1 ace each by Jovi Dunlap and Cora Greene. Play our last home game of the season at Hall Gym Thursday 5:30 against Southern Wells. Lady Bears are 4-3 for the season. 7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears lost a heartbreaking battle on the road to the Selma Braves in three sets (13-25, 25-23, 13-15). The Bears had a slow start in the opening set as Selma jumped out to an early lead, but they fought back in set two, pulling out a thrilling win to even the match. The deciding third set was just as close, but the Lady Bears came up short in the end. The Lady Bears were led by Alexa Tinsman with 6 kills, 6 digs, and 2 aces. Mabry Cheesman added 6 digs and 3 assists, while Delainee Whitehead contributed 5 digs, 2 aces, and 1 kill. Blakely Burge recorded 4 digs and 1 assist, Ellie Lanter tallied 1 kill, and Harper Whitehead chipped in with 1 dig. The Lady Bears are now 11-3 on the season. 8th Grade: Thursday evening, the team showed up to Selma Middle School with something to prove before facing them in the first round of the MEC tournament this Saturday. The Lady Bears fended off the Braves in 2 sets: 25-11, 25-20.
