Shenandoah 44, Monroe Central 13 The Monroe Central football team wrapped up its regular season Friday night with a 44-13 home loss to Shenandoah. The Raiders (6-3) came out of the gates swinging, scoring 29 points in the first quarter and 15 more in the second quarter to earn a running clock for the entirety of the second half. The Golden Bears, who ended the regular season with a 4-5 record, continued fighting over the last two quarters, however, as Ethan Hunt scored two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on his standout senior season. In nine games, he ran for 710 yards — averaging almost seven yards per carry — and had 11 rushing touchdowns. Hunt on Friday had 11 carries for 61 total yards on the night, earning five first downs and the aforementioned two touchdowns. Luke Anderson led the Monroe Central defense with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack. Senior Dylan Summers also had half a tackle for loss and added a blocked punt, while Kaden Sullivan and Peyton Cummins had forced fumbles. Monroe Central turns its attention to its first-round sectional opponent, Cambridge City Lincoln (0-9). Kickoff in Parker City is set for 7 p.m. The winner of Monroe Central-Lincoln takes on the winner of the Union City-Hagerstown matchup.
