MC golf to host 3-way on Thursday

Monroe Central’s boys golf team will host a triangular meet on Thursday at Hickory Hills. The Bears will play host to South Adams and Union City at 4:30 p.m. This will also be picture day for the Bear linksters as Crabtree will be at the course at 4 p.m.

Bears extend win streak to 3 with win over Knights

Monroe Central extended their winning streak to 3 games Monday night as they went on the road and defeated Northeastern, 5-2. Caden Shumaker, Taft Manship, and Casey Conatser each drove in runs in a 3-run fourth inning for the Bears to make it a 5-0 game. Manship sent two runners home on his sacrifice bunt

With the Monroe Central golf invitational coming up Saturday and the Bears already losing an invitational and a dual match, we have managed to pick up a home meet on Thursday. South Adams has committed to coming to Hickory Hills Thursday and a third team is being sought so the golf team doesn’t lose out

Lady Bears open the year with 12-2 win over Shenandoah

Coach Pat Medler picked up his 330th career win Monday night but his first at Monroe Central as the Lady Bears opened the year with an MEC win over Shenandoah, 12-2. The first inning both teams got on the board via the solo home run. Sophomore Mabrey Buis was MC’s first batter of the year

Baseball, softball on for tonight; track moved to Tuesday

Tonight’s baseball and softball games are on as planned. For the Lady Bears they will host Shenandoah at 5 p.m. in their first game of the year. The Bears travel to Northeastern for a 5 p.m. game. The track meet at Union County is being pushed back to Tuesday.

Monday’s track meet to start at 530

Monroe Central’s boys and girls track & field teams will travel to Union County on Monday for a meet that will start at 5:30 p.m. It will also be a dual meet as a mix up has caused Union to drop out.

Norris sweeps distance events; Haney, Huddleston take 1st

Monroe Central’s girls’ track team took first place ribbons home in the outdoor season opener Thursday at Hagerstown with Delta. Aubrey Norris swept the mile and two miles with times of 5:58 and 13:18, respectively. Marissa Huddleston won the 300 hurdles in 54.26 seconds and Miranda Haney took first in the high jump at 4′

Mitchell sweeps hurdles in opening outdoor meet

Nick Mitchell swept the 110 and 300 hurdle events Thursday as Monroe Central opened the outdoor track & fueld season. Golf invite for today has been cancelled

Just like so many other teams, the Monroe Central boys golf team will have to wait another day to start the 2018 season. Yorktown has cancelled today’s invitational. They have snow on the greens and they don’t think it will be melted off by the time the meet was to start at 1 p.m.
